It has to show to differences of formwhich this agency presents in the different social types, nomadic andsettled, military and industrial. The theory of politics, the development of the state, and state craft are subjects for its consideration. It should refrain itself from making a historical study of concrete societies. And then there have to be added theeffects which the developing and differentiating industries produceon one another--the advances of the industrial arts themselves;caused by the help received from one another's improvements. Hence it happened that out of these analogies the new science received its principal terms of expression.
It also studies different laws of government regarding the reconstruction of village community. Durkheim, Hob House, Ginsberg and Sorokin have been the chief exponents of this school. Very few sociologists today deny that enumeration, measurement and refined statistical procedures are desirable techniques to be used in any investigation. The social group is a system, that is a structure consisting of parts which, without losing their identity and individuality, constitute a whole transcending the parts.
